Presentation-review of our book "You can open your eyes now" by Ms Angelina Papathanasiou in the online magazine "Thematofylakes Logo Texnon"

The book by the author Ade Durojaiye "You can open your eyes now" is published by Megas Seirios Publications. It is a book consisting of short stories with Alex as the main character. The book is written in simple language and flows smoothly.

Personal view: Angelina Papathanasiou

We will find in its pages thoughts that we all have more or less made at some point in our lives. What the author tells us about Alex may have been experienced by some of the readers.

"No, it's okay to be afraid... The point is not to let fear overwhelm us and prevent us from living. To be alive is to take part in life. But we prefer to sit on the sidelines and watch, because that way we don't have to do anything. But this is not a healthy attitude to life."

Alex comes from England to Greece with his partner Athena to live there permanently. After a while, however, Athena breaks up with him and Alex loses the ground beneath his feet. The next few months will be very difficult for him.

"You can't be well if there is no life in you. Around you things don't work because they don't have life in them to work."

The story of Alex, which we read in the pages of the book, will surely remind many readers of situations in their own lives. Failures in the professional and emotional field we all experience. The reaction to difficulties, however, differs from person to person.

The book focuses on getting to know ourselves better and learning to live in the now. To enjoy life even with the difficulties and obstacles that come in our way.

"The decision to maintain a certain type of thinking or a certain type of feeling is my choice... It is my choice to feel guilty, pressured, anxious, etc."

Clearly, reading the book will not change one's life for the better overnight. It will take a lot of work with oneself, a lot of thought, but also action. But the book opens new paths for the readers, broadens their horizons and is a good basis for a new beginning, to become better within ourselves and towards our fellow human beings.
